Connie
Sue Irlbeck, age 62, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at the
Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb. Connie was born on April 30,
1942, in Dedham, Iowa, to Adalbert and Martina (Tigges) Irlbeck.
A graduate of Keumper High School in Carroll, Iowa, and Viterbo College
in LaCrosse, she received her master's in educational administration
from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Connie devoted her
professional career to Catholic education and served in the Dioceses of
Sioux City and Dubuque, Iowa, and the Diocese of Madison, as both a
teacher and principal. Most recently, she was serving the Sinsinawa
Dominicans as the President/ Principal of Edgewood Campus School.
She enjoyed varieties of music and theater, reading, artistic clay work
and traveling. Her friends held a very special place in her heart. She
was a Sinsinawa Dominican Associate and a Franciscan Sisters of
Perpetual Adoration Affiliate. Connie was a member of St. James Parish
in Madison, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and lector.
Connie is survived by her mother, Martina Irlbeck Van Dyke of Carroll,
Iowa, her sisters, Jean and Laura, and a brother, Rick. Nieces and
nephews were a very important part of her life as well as Connie's
uncles, aunts and cousins. Throughout her life's journey
the numerous friends that Connie developed were vital to her search for
happiness and purpose in God's world. A special thank you to each of
them for the time they shared with her and the meaning they gave to her
life. A Mass of Christian Burial was be held at St.
Joseph Chapel at Edgewood College on Monday, August 30, 2004, with
Father Ron Kreul, O.P. presiding. Memorial gifts may be sent in Connie's
